Outlined below are some simple ways to help keep your Burnish & Black jewellery looking at its best.
Most of Burnish & Black's pieces are made from sterling silver.
Please read the following instructions on how to care for pieces that are high shine, matt finish or oxidised.
High Shine Silver:
Sterling silver can tarnish over time. You may notice a slight yellowing or dulling of the metal. This is completely normal and can be easily removed with a silver polishing cloth. These are available in most jewellery shops and online. Silver polishing clothes are impregnated with cleaning and anti tarnish agents that will bring the shine back to your piece.
Matt pieces can be cleaned with a little toothpaste on an old toothbrush. Rinse well.
Oxidised silver is silver that has been deliberately blackened often to bring out detail and texture in pieces. There are not really any instructions needed for oxidised pieces except that they should be stored separately to other silver pieces and should not be dipped in silver dip as this will strip the black off.
- Always avoid exposing jewellery to chemicals such as cleaning products; this is especially important for pieces with stones.
- Jewellery with stones should not be dipped in silver dip.
